Wood Tower: Model & Drawings
1A & 1B
Project Information: S1- Project 1
This design studio project was split into four assignments and was based off a smaller project we did the first week of class (first photo, left). In this project we were assigned the task of making a copy of a column utilized in our chosen building. My assigned building was the Brockholes Visitor Centre in the UK. The columns in that building split and bend.
In the next assignment (1B,1C and 1D), the project was to fill a 12” cube of space utilizing all the wood provided for the assignment. The complexity was to not exceed the boundaries of the cube, to use every piece of wood that was given, and to build the cube utilizing the set of design words that were assigned describing the column. The words that I was assigned were split and bend.
“Your task in this assignment is to create a variety of spaces (big, small, tall, wide, straight, angled, etc.) inside the cube of space using the column you built as the basis.”
